TEXAS WOMEN: Trailblazer, Shining Stars & Cowgirls

Caterer to a Cultural Crowd, Cowboys, Corporations & Charities

I hitch my horse in: Dallas, a Detroit defector, caterer and restaurant owner; and mother of twins, native Texans. My world revolves around wranglin’ tots and rustlin’ up some chow.

My essential Lone Star fashion statement is: Tailored casual suits by Michael Faircloth that can go anywhere from carpool to clients to cocktail parties.

When company comes to dinner, the blue ribbon dish that I cook up is: Texas Torta, an appetizer that doesn’t require me to heat up the oven!

The song that reminds me of the spirit of Texas the most is: A La Nanita Nana by Tish Hinojosa—a lullaby.

My favorite weekend getaway in our Lone Star state is: Big Bend, the Hill Country, San Antonio’s River Walk, Galveston and my own backyard for a barbecue and swim with kids.

When I’m far away from home, what I miss the most about Texas is: Thunderstorms, Tex Mex and “y’all.”

My friends tell me I’m a real cowgirl with true grit because: I’ve never been afraid to fail, fall or get dirty!

A Texas hero that is bigger than life to me is: Big Tex, the symbol of the Texas State Fair, the greatest state fair in the cosmos. Plus, he stands over the food!
